Pros

Complexity of patient population is compelling to clinical staff, medical staff

Cons

Sinai used to have a family feel...cohesive, team-oriented towards the same goal. Since the Steward acquisition, there is more "big business" mentality; Leadership needs to be more defined and communicate more with middle management. Employee of the month has been going on for 4 years- it's getting old and now it's like, if you have a pulse, you can get employee of the month.

Advice to Management

Communication, Loyalty.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at New England Sinai Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The teamwork environment especially that of the night shift is very positive. Nursing team collaborates together and truly care about the patient population.

    Cons

There is a lack of resources (medical supplies), and outdated documentation system. It would be great to have all of the patient documentation be electronic versus partially electronic and partially on paper.

    Advice to Management

Hold more team meetings, be more intentional about creating a positive nursing team culture.

I worked at New England Sinai Hospital (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was employed at Sinai for 25+ years, and the experience (work environment, cooperation, acknowledgement) was great until the hospital was acquired by Steward. Sinai was truly a family of great, talented, compassionate, caring people working together to provide the very best in patient care

    Cons

Little/no regard for employees as "people". It became all about the bottom line. I understand that you must be fiscally responsible, but at what cost?

    Advice to Management

Motivate employees by providing nurturing environment and make them feel valued. It's amazing how far a little show of appreciation can go.
