I have been working at New Relic full-time

Pros

cool office, cool product, Interesting work

Cons

work life balance,
compensation,
leadership,
personal growth,
professional growth,
unrealistic demands

Advice to Management

There is too much demand and no where near enough people to fill it. As an engineer there is no way to get permuted or recognized for your work. It seems like management manages engineers but have no interest in software engineering or understanding what we build.

I have been working at New Relic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Never ending supply of interesting problems to work on. Very intelligent co-workers who are also pleasant to work with. Excellent work life balance, great office space with amazing views.

    Cons

High growth rate appears to be making it difficult for management to keep up. Difficult to progress career, promotions go through at a frustratingly slow pace. No 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Make sure engineers know exactly what they are being asked to do and why it needs to be done. It is extremely difficult to do good engineering if you don't know what is being requested and why it needs to be done.
