I have been working at New York Community Bancorp part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Decent Pay
good for college students
less stessful than most banks

Cons

too much pressure on sell goals
too much paper work when opening or closing accounts.
Management is backstabbing.

Advice to Management

If they want to be a big bank they need to get better on their marketing department. Also offer monetary incentives for meeting sales goals nobody likes to meet sales goals with out a bonus

    Pros

    I was an FSA at AmTrust and they seemed to be truly focused on promoting growth from within the company. They made a point to train people in areas they wanted to grow and were invested in personel development.

    Cons

    I had no negative experience there.

    Pros

    Some of the managers there are great. The insurance coverage that you are provided as a full-time employee are excellent and kept at a manageable price.

    Cons

    They give you all of your annual vacation time at the beginning of the year, if you have to leave the company for whatever reason and you have used more of your days than you have "earned" and this includes any bank holidays in which the bank is closed and you cannot report for work you have to pay those back to the bank. You are paid every other week, however, the bank does not verbalize to you that when you receive your paycheck you are being paid for 1 week of actual hours worked and 1 week of "estimated" hours. Therefore, when you leave the company you will be expecting an 80 hour check yet you will only receive a 40 hour check and this is if you do not have to pay them back any vacation days you used or any holidays. Many of the managers in the department that i was in knew nothing of what we as employees were expected to do or how to do it, they only had a job because they were friends or neighbors to other higher ups within the company. They pay horribly and do not give practical salary increases. Overall, this was a horrible place to work.
