    Great Company to work for

    Pros

New York Life offers a good work/life balance, fair compensation, and an inclusive and diverse work environment.

    Cons

Although there are opportunities for growth, and to move around within departments, this is not actively encouraged when you excel at your job and are needed by team. There is a great chance you will be doing exact same thing, and not growing as far as advancing career.

Great company with extensive benefits and training allowance.

    Pros

Many resources and consultants that train you well and can help you set up advanced financial plans for clients. Agents have a pension that vests after 5 years as well as a 401k/Roth 401k, although the company does not have a set contribution match, but rather will potentially give you a “dump in” yearly based on performance. Company will match 80% of commissions in first year and 50% in second as a training allowance, and also offers an expense allowance based off of your sales. You can also become registered to sale securities and variable products through NYL. You are also very autonomous in your schedule and can work ok your own time, but you must be structured and driven to be successful.

    Cons

Payment is completely commission based with very few internal leads. This is by far the biggest obstacle to overcome as your business will be almost entirely referral based.
