I have been working at New York Times full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to work if you're a journalist. One of the few places left that has the time and energy to dig into stories others can't get to. Developing some seriously strong interactive/multimedia muscles as well.

    Cons

Tech development is mismanaged and constantly bottlenecked. Company is chronically slow to make decisions, culture of too many people involved in too many meetings is unabated. Overall business strategy seems clearer and more promising since Mark Thompson came in as CEO but changes in the marketplace may overwhelm any possible strategy.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to nuts-and-bolts management. Make decisions quickly and clearly. Fix the tech problem.

I worked at New York Times as an intern

    Pros

journalists are the best. as a journalism student I learnt most from them, their diligence, they are quite perceptive.

    Cons

their jobs are dangerous as they have to verify sources which often involve direct interests of powerful parties.
