Pros

The experience you get working in this fast-paced, media company. You also work with some incredibly talented people who will later become valuable resources for your future job hunt.

Cons

They have an incredibly high turnover rate, such that even the best and brightest regularly fear for their jobs. They also micromanage to the point of ridiculousness. Regular memos are sent out, random drug testing is in place and your every move on the computer is monitored.

Advice to Management

Value your employees and former employees, they are building your business with you. Also, loyalty and trust are earned, not bought.

I worked at NewsMax Media full-time

    Pros

Steady paycheck. Some of the people there are very talented.

    Cons

Every employee lives in constant fear of being fired on a daily basis, regardless of the results you're providing. Their business model is just short of selling snake oil and you're expected to convince the customer that it's legitimate. Promotions and wage increases are based on favoritism, nepotism and who complains the most. There is such a lack of communication from upper management and between different departments that every day is a constant struggle, and apathy runs rampant throughout the company because of it. They will tell you you're the best employee ever to walk through the doors at breakfast, and fire you by lunch time. If you just need a job/paycheck go for it, but if you're seriously looking to get into the the media biz with a reputable company look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your staff on a regular basis and not set them up for failure because of your unwillingness to manage properly. What your employees want (and deserve) is respect, recognition, support from upper management, and a raise!

I worked at NewsMax Media full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The chance to get a lot of experience in different roles with their TV operation, since it was essentially a "startup."

    Cons

The fact that it was a startup led to austerity measures that adversely affected the quality of the programming.

    Advice to Management

Give employees the latitude to do their jobs.
