I worked at Nokia full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Work Flexibility
Strong Portfolio of products and services
Very good training programs for employees
Good potential for growth if they can survive their current situation
Strong presence outside of North America
Fairly generous benefits - especially vacation and sick leave.

Cons

Company in the process of downsizing has put growth on hold
Sometimes feels that no one is steering the ship
Sometimes multiple people driving the same issue with no clear responsibilities.

Advice to Management

Please try to create synergy among the different interdependent teams which seems to be of want lately
Please define a clear chain of responsibility

I worked at Nokia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart and brilliant employees, Great vision on technology with middle management, good work life balance, flexible hours at work, great benefits overall.

    Cons

Poor upper management, no engagement from them for career progression, no discussions about career progression at all. This caused high attrition rate as soon as the job market got a little bit better.

    Advice to Management

Focus on internal employees and award them for the work done. Take suggestions from employees that have been in the industry long enough to give advice on future trends and factor that into strategy decisions (short term and long term).

I have been working at Nokia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Work-Life Balance. Great people and company treats them well. Some interesting projects. Great global company, that cares about people and the environment (manufactures phones cleaning as possible).

    Cons

Large company, so things take time to get done. The past two years (and the next) wil have lots of reorganizations, with reduction in staff, to save costs and stream line projects.

    Advice to Management

Keep the moral up. When you reorg with reductions - continue the practice of caring for your employees, like you are currently doing (assistance with job search, fair packages, enough notice for families to adjust). We understand the business need to streamline.
