I worked at Nordstrom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They train you in customer service and it helps when looking for jobs after you leave because they know you have great customer service skills.

    Cons

If you work part time it takes twice as long to get a pay raise. Which sucks, I would rather have it be based on merit because people who are ranked below you make more money than you do.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice surroundings; decent benefits when you qualify. Caters to a higher income bracket customer.

    Cons

Retail Hours; Straight commission; generous return policy means that your income is greatly affected; managers that are very young and inexperienced. It's very hard to earn an average income working at Nordstrom.Expectation for straight commission sales people is too high, in that they want you to clean, stock the floor, take care of orders, do customer follow ups, etc. all while you're on the selling clock.
