I worked at Nordstrom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You work with some of the nicest people you will meet. The 20% discount is pretty nice too.

    Cons

You work your butt off and get paid a little over minimum wage. They tell you that you make your own pay check but unless you've worked there for 20+ years or are a ruthless seller that has zero team player skills, there is no way to make a decent living off of your paychecks. You are also expected to be "on the clock," ruining your sales per hour, while doing non-sales tasks for much longer than they "calculate" into your commission (AKA working for free). You process more online returns than actual selling of merchandise since online has more more deals and incentives than shopping online recently.

    Advice to Management

Do not sacrifice your employees personal lives and work environment for a few more sales. If you retained more sales associates that were knowledgeable about the product, you would not have to be so concerned about spending so much budget on hiring. You get what you pay for.
