I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great experiences, great people, benefits are wonderful, even for part timers. Constantly busy with work. Great training, and people up in customer service are great for helping with problems, as are managers. Always something to do, even if it's just cleaning. I loved working here and wish I could've stayed on.

Cons

Customers, management doesn't follow through, most employees are of one type of personality (girly and watch Style channel). They talk on and on about how you can get promoted after being seasonal, but didn't hire anyone else on.

Advice to Management

Follow through.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, minimum supervision, great growth potential, easy to be promoted,

    Cons

long hours, low income, 100% commission in most departaments, all merchandise returns are effecting each sales person for 1 year, you must be mobile if you want to be promoted to a buyer or store manager, you have to be able to take none-sense from rude customers all day long,

    Advice to Management

They should give more growth potential for anyone who already have family and mortgage and needs to stay in the local market. This company is great if at least one spouse is making money in the family because you will not. Hours like in all retail are hard to get used to.
