I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Strong financially. Excellent on the merchandise management side of the company. The company takes a value based approach to new opportunities and is careful to protect shareholder value.

Cons

IT has abandoned the core culture of the company. Recently, they have become enamored with hiring 20 year olds who would normally work for a start up company. That is not a bad idea until it becomes your sole focus.

Advice to Management

Remember who and what got you where you are today.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Highly competitive pay, the most supportive management you will find, good benefits. Many opportunities for advancement. One of the best corporate cultures you will find in retail. Competitive but still a sense of team. Leadership development programs. Great merchandise to get excited about. The people are the best.

    Cons

Like everyone, Nordstrom is cutting costs. Less support than there used to be. Nordstrom embraces change, which is not bad, but not all changes are good.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to feedback from salespeople and lower level management. Continue to invest in developing leadership, and continue the promote from within culture, it brings the best employees aboard, and keeps them there.

I have been working at Nordstrom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Positive working environment, lots of support, great people. Working at Nordstrom has helped me to become a more confident person. I am so glad I decided to give selling a try.

    Cons

Can be boring when there is less customer traffic and sometimes it feels like I'm begging for money. Computer systems are ridiculously outdated and slow.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
