I worked at Nordstrom as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

I worked as a seasonal associate for two season. I had plenty of time off and a pretty set schedule which was nice. I did have an opportunity to see what it would be like to be a full time employee, the classes offered for professional development seemed to help my coworkers.

Cons

Sometimes the management team was not in tune with personnel issues.

    Advice to Management

They preach customer service on the front end, but really they don't want to give it unless it saves them money. So much back talking about everything. The Nordstrom brothers really don't care. There is bad communication company. There turn over rate is ridiculous and its because people aren't happy. They hire there sales people based off of looks rather than competency, but they hire just the right amount of diversity to probably not get in trouble. There is a huge list of improvements to be made.
