I have been working at Nordstrom Rack part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

pay is better than most retail, discount is nice,, especially during NPG sales, TONS of room for advancement, upper management is very approachable, most staff seemed happy with their positions which contributed to everyone pulling their weight, lots of teamwork, lots of creative freedom regarding merchandising (depending on your location/department), very accommodating to time off requests, website was extremely easy to navigate when requesting time off or simply viewing hours worked, flexible schedule

    Cons

some managers seem to micromanage and appear more concerned with paperwork than actually spending time on the floor guiding staff, the uniform change to a tshirt takes away from the creative fashion freedom of employees, sometimes schedules change without notice, can't move to full line (regular Nordstrom) or another department without manager's approval so you're pretty much stuck if your manager dislikes you,

I worked at Nordstrom Rack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount, can work 7 days a week, location

    Cons

Geared to young, horrible if you are over 45. Most hrs given to 20 somethings, even if hired as "full time." Add more and more tasks and expected to be 3 people. Pd $1.00 more per hr to also cashier, then taken away, but responsibilities continue. Only place I ever worked where I made less after 2 yrs than when I started!!!!! In 20 mo, our dept turned over 3-4 times, I went f4rom last hired to only one left and despite having most tranactions, was given less hrs than 3 new 20 something employees. Age is priority, not productivity!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Be fare, when you hire someone "full time" that should not be 24-26 hrs. Don't keep cutting staff..as one mgr in my store said, "we aren't going to hire as many replacements, think of all the money we save the company and my own dept." When you work the others to death, is it really worth it?
