I have been working at North American Lighting full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

The pay and benefits are great! The people are generally nice. If you are just getting started in you career it is a valuable experience in how not to manage a company.

Cons

Management is terrible at all levels but mostly from the top. There is a lot of favoritism. The culture is one of termination. Unlike other companies, if you make a mistake at NAL you will most likely be terminated. Termination is the solution to all of their problems. Long hours; it's not really conducive to a family life. The corporate management doesn't seem to know what it is doing.

Advice to Management

Treat people like human beings, not like disposable items. Discontinue favoritism.

I worked at North American Lighting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People were great in Paris. Relatively low stress level, despite being a 24x7 manufacturing company.

    Cons

culture was somewhat dysfunctional. Everyone is scared of the CEO and he has to approve almost everything so people aren't given a lot of freedom to run.

Other facilities had pretty low morale and a lot of problems.

    Advice to Management

Hire good people, trust them, and stay out of their way. Let them do their jobs.
