Pros

Benefits package is amazing, 9% match to 401k, pension and profit sharing. The union is strong and does a good job supporting the employees.

Cons

Unfortunately almost all of the union jobs are required to work shift work, so unless you're okay flipping rapidly between night and day you should work somewhere else. Quite a bit of tension between the Union and the Company, there was a strike in 2006.

Advice to Management

Consider the straight shifts that have been suggested time and time again, so people can work straight nights or straight days and not have the hectic switching which is physically and emotionally stressful.

I have been working at Northern Tier Energy full-time

    Pros

Great company to work for. Flexible hours and good atmosphere.

    Cons

Turnover has been high recently. Not the most efficiently ran company as a handful of employees do not have enough work to keep busy.
