    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    -Great work/life balance
    -Excellent benefits
    -Strong Company Brand
-Good place to learn and start a career
    -They encourage movement between departments
    -Good, smart people
    -Job security
-Get to interact with and get to know people in many other departments

    Cons

    -Pay is significantly under market
    -Review process not very good/fair
-Career progress is typically dictated by one or two individuals; very political
-No "up or out" model, i.e. it is not uncommon for someone to hold the same position for 10 years with no promotion.
-Those who "suck up" to the right people move up fast; while others who are just as effective may not get noticed. If yo u don't establish yourself as a "fast track" person from the beginning and get cozy with the right people, it is very hard to recover and move up

    Advice to Management

-Revise review process to make it more fair. Get input from multiple departments who have worked with the individual as well as clients, peers and superiors.

  2. "Stable in recession, compensation on the lower side"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Decent benefits, generous vacation time (3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after you get promoted +sick days etc)
    Global exposure

    Cons

    Compensation on the lower scale.
    Resources are quite limited.

    Advice to Management

Outline clear career paths for staff; therefore, the development opportunities could be better aligned. Currently, career growth is strictly about who you know not what you know.
It's hard to ask for compensation to be more compatible during THESE times, but Northern has always been like that...
