I worked at Northland Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company , family oriented, tight knit group of employees.

    Cons

Pay was ok for a sales role. Health benifits were expensive for single and even worse for family. The owner claims they try to get a better rate but only as long as they do business with the company that serves the policy.
The only thing the sales director cares about is your numbers. Effort and learning curve mean nothing. Also, you have to be "a good fit" for her as well. She has random mood swings and does follow her own advice. Training could be much better also. But if you get in the clique, it's all good!!!!
Good people mostly but working there offers no room to move as they are all lifers. The comp plan sucks. Relationship manager splits the commission with sales folks, even though they have nothing to do with your sale!!! You need to be heavy in the community and if not it will be reflected on your review.

    Advice to Management

If you plan on getting to 30 mil in revenue in 5 years, you need to be more competitive. Everyone sells "solutions" now, and be better at helping your customers save money, not always raising prices on contract renewal. Too many "gray areas" that I encountered so things should be more black and white.
