I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Due to their size, Northrop Grumman has plenty of opportunities to make a lifetime career out of working with them. They pay competitive rates and have locations in just about every area of the country.

    Cons

There are massive amounts of politics, internal struggles and even competition between divisions. Often times there will be many different groups competing for the same work and you wind up in a war of egos. Due to the structure of most major defense contracts, Northrop is forced to follow the model of putting "cheeks in seats" and just hiring warm bodies to fill positions rather than spending time to prune and recruit top talent. While this makes for a diverse team, salaries are NOT based on performance and you WILL wind up doing 10x more work than someone who makes a significant amount more than you.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to reward your superstar employees with more than just $500-1000 awards (which are heavily taxed).
