I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to work on large projects that have a fair amount of visibility. Learn to interact with clients, customers, vendors. Very good stuff to learn early in your career.

    Cons

At least with my business unit, some of the worst managers I've ever worked with. None of them understood or really cared for good engineering. Maybe the new IS division has improved, but back when software development was split between MS and IT divisions, there was zero collaboration. Worse, it was complete war sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Take engineering more seriously. Stop placing former military personnel with zero IT experience in PM or lead positions. Do more to retain talented engineers.
