I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great benefits, great salary, work with great people. I have been able to use corporate aircraft for my personal use when needed, in conjunction with other executives.

Cons

Some of the management is a little out of touch. The vacation policy is a little out of whack, even though they are generous with vacation time, per se.

I worked at Northrop Grumman as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to develop and grow within the company.

    Cons

You need to be responsible for your own career. Don't rely on your manager or anyone else. Network, network, network!

    Advice to Management

Help your employees develop, grow, and move--keep them at the company, even if not on your team.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Chance to move around and work on different projects
    - Great job security (i.e. if competent, then low risk of losing your job)
    - I always like to say, "Northrop is a great place for a job, but not a career."

    Cons

    - Poor communication (very little information flows down from management)
    - Poor management (company seems very interested in promoting engineers that make horrible people managers)
    - Reactive not proactive (company reacts to market, rather than define it)
    - Company does not value employees (few promotions, lower salaries, etc.). If you want valued, then go to a smaller company where your actions directly impact the company.
