I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

-Friendly work environment. My co-workers, along with my manger were a pleasure to work with.
-Professional Organization. In regards to the values of the organization, NGC is great. They really do strive to be a top-tier organization.
-Good medical benefits and 401K plan.

Cons

-Hard to move up. Moving up the corporate ladder if only easy if you work at one of the main campuses.
-Pay raises are minimal.
-Constant concerns of labor shortages and lay-offs. For the last couple of years they have had numerous rounds of lay-offs. This greats, as you can image a high level of anxiety among the work force.

    Cons

    -Low Raises
-To dependent on federal government spending
-Contract work - If you don't get the contract renewed with the federal customer, get ready for a layoff memo

    Advice to Management

Start seeking opportunities in the private industries to offest the volatility within the Federal government. The Government is no longer a stable entity!

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, reasonable chance to develop professionally. Been working here roughly for 10+ years. Generally treated with respect and rewarded for performance. Not too bureaucratic for a large company. Have had a lot of variety - development, engineering, business development, project management. Management is generally fair and ethical.

    Cons

Major customer is DOD, so defense downturns impact the company directly. Like much of the industry your employment depends upon staying covered on a contract; if coverage goes so do you.

    Advice to Management

Company could do a better job with distributed work, as in spending more effort to facilitate employees in one part of the country to work on projects in another.
