I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Quick program integration, leadership and management opportunities. Previous experience is acknowledged and leveraged to manage and impact several important department of defense programs within your scope of expertise. A high tech company with a good mix of experience and new (fresh) engineering personnel/ideas. Great people and good working environment.

Cons

Vague organizational structure (at mid level) with unclear responsibilities often makes you feel that program management of projects, and processes is in chaos and that important business development opportunities are being missed/mal-managed with inefficient coordination with the customer.

Advice to Management

Concise and well understood organizational structures with responsibilities on paper and in actual execution is critical to efficient operations, personnel job satisfaction and optimum performance.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time

    Pros

NG does a better job of avoid layoff compared to other aerospace/defense companies.

    Cons

Lately NG seems a bit too interested in "shareholder value" and has lost regard for employee value.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of latitude to implement and test designs and manage time. Good interpersonal relationships and teamwork at the department level. Ability to work on full product life cycle and participate in field tests.

    Cons

Politics at higher levels creating organizational "silos". Lots of nepotism in hiring. Competing managers working on different versions of the same project at the same time.

    Advice to Management

Allow mobility between departments for lower level talent.
