I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Always treated fairly, never felt like a number. I had excellent benfits and was treated exceptionally well when the contract ended.

Cons

As with any contract work if the contract is awarded to another company you must make decisions to stay on with the new company or pursue continued employment, but reloaction is not an option for everyone.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work!

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is still producing some amazing air vehicles and is becoming proficient in other areas as well. Working here definitely provides the opportunity to collaborate on products that will benefit many people with a positive impact on their lives.

    Cons

The goal of "affordability" seems to be the only consideration, and employee morale is suffering because of it. For example, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are no longer holidays, and while that saves the company money, disgruntled employees will inevitably work less efficiently, thereby costing the company more money in the long run.

I think it'll be a better place to work for when the current generation of managers retire.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who are aware and deal with the problems, not only the people who control the budget. Obviously you can't spend money on every little problem, but not enough consideration was given to those who knew how to provide solutions.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Initial experience was great. Good caring management and lots of opportunities. Good benefits at the time and freiendly coworkers. Company involved in local community events.

    Cons

Last 5 years out the 15 I worked there have been stressful. There is constant reorganization each time flushing out good people and leaving you with a bunch of unknow managers. Company business is Defense contracts and if the one you are on ends you are out of a job unless YOU can jump to another one. Managers do very little to find you work. Networking outside your group is important so that you have contacts within the company. Total focus has been on stock price and pleasing stockholders. Recent Gallup poll shows discontent among employees; however if you are the squeaky wheel you are a target for elimination so the manager can show improved results. Happened to me!

    Advice to Management

Quit squeezing the company to reduce all costs and overhead. Focus on what yur customers want instead of what you think they need. Forget status quo and go win some new business and develop a way for current employees to transition to them.
