I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

They have help programs that help insiders find work if their contract ends. And total strangers within the company will help you network.

Cons

Once you're outside the "family" you're suddenly an orphan.

Advice to Management

Keep the connections open awhile once the employee has left the company for fault of their own.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Northrop Grumman as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Was given meaningful design work, not just busy work. The other employees were very helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. The management were very helpful in getting me the training I needed, as well as allowing me to experience different fields.

    Cons

The location is in a very expensive suburb, the commute from anywhere around is usually pretty bad due to traffic. The pay raises and advancement opportunities are becoming more and more scarce, especially with sequestration and the governmental shutdown.

    Advice to Management

Great job, keep up the developmental support.

I worked at Northrop Grumman as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Great pay for interns

-Flexible work hours, 9/80 schedule gives you every other Friday off.

    -Great manager

    Cons

-Working on government contracts means every single task has an assigned number that you charge time to. You have to keep track of every little task you do throughout the day and enter it into the system at the end of the day. If you have no task (downtime) then you have to state that, and your managers become upset when you report too much downtime. Forces employees to either constantly nag their manager for more work or unnecessarily drag out assignments so you don't end up with tons of downtime. Was stressful to work like that.

    -Too much configuration management.

-Too many different part databases and systems. Need one unified system.

-Not a good location and building.

    Advice to Management

Did not spend enough time there to give any real advice to upper management.
