I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Standard par for the course benefits for the industry, flexible working schedule, virtually impossible to get fired unless you really hose it up

    Cons

Northrop is like working for the government:

    -Red tape

    -Bureaucracy

-Lip service but little action (for any number of things)

-Little vision of great things from the top of the food chain

-Tools that are difficult to manage to

-Politically correct left of center party lines constantly floated to the masses to appease the 1%

-Director/Management appointments made strictly to get rid of the ol' boys club stigma (it's gone the other extreme of ol' girls club instead of getting quality people who know how to manage)

    -Stove-piping people

-Lip service of "doing great as a company" but overhead is cut to nothing with very few getting pay increases (and if anything, maybe 1-2% max)

-No recognition for doing jobs consistently good and avoiding glitches (on the other hand, you have a program that is royally hosed and you fix it then you're the flavor of the week).

So yeah, not much going for this place besides its size and ties to defense contracts; were it another industry it'd been gone long ago. It doesn't differentiate itself from its competitors and seems perfectly content with "better aligning itself with our competitors" (a true line given by the CEO among others....read: be so much like them that you'll see no difference in pay or benefits should you decide to switch). Expect no visionaries or leadership of impressive proportion should you decide to come here. Know that it's just another Lockheed, Booz, Boeing, General Dynamics, etc. etc....and that's just fine with Corporate.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate a ton of VP positions and work to differentiate Northrop from our competitors.

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits flexible hours educational reimbursement

    Cons

Work may be mundane at times. Technically not as challenging as a PhD or masters would want the work to be. Working your butt off may not get you the raise you deserve because " there are others with greater seniority waiting for the promotion "

    Advice to Management

Please facilitate those who are technologically hungry to excel and make a contribution to the company. In doing so the company retains talent, contributes to society , and stays ahead technologically
