I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The travel opportunities have been fantastic, I have great insurance at a good price, and I get to work with some truly talented people everyday. I also have a flexible work schedule, so I can shift my hours around as needed to accommodate outside activities.

Cons

Despite excellent performance reviews, it can be difficult to advance here. This is based on both my own experience as well as watching several others get frustrated and eventually leave the company for large pay increases and better work environments.

Advice to Management

After the first year or two, stop being obsessed with whether someone has a certain degree or certification and focus more on the work they are doing and the customer satisfaction that results.

    Pros

Good benefits; Good work opportunities if you can find them

    Cons

Just as the name implies, "beltway bandits"----they dont try to help you find coverage when your task ends, no matter what your loyalty has been.

    Advice to Management

    Better training

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very efficient company wide services (IT, HR, etc). Management is receptive to suggestions. Competent coworkers.

    Cons

The defense industry is going through a long downturn. The company has dealt with this well but be aware that there is no job security when contracts dry up. Health insurance plans changed.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing what you are doing. Listen to your employees whenever you can.
