Pros

- Great work/life balance
- Health, dental, and vision benefits are all above average (though not spectacular)
- Work environment is as stressful as you want to make it

Cons

- Pay is low compared to other similiar positions in the market
- Sometimes has a large company mentality where decisions are made top-down without consulting the people at the bottom - although this has been slowly, slowly changing
- High performers are paid marginally higher than low performers. Because of this I have chosen not push myself into the higher performing category anymore

Advice to Management

The purse strings need to be opened. I've seen too many good, young workers leave this company when an additonal $5-10k would have kept them here. I'm young enough that I don't realistically think the pension is going to be there for me when I retire, and you bet that factors into my decision about whether or not to stay here long term. When the ecomony turns around I fear that we will have another group of people leave.

    Pros

    Great Training Program
Sponsorship for Insurance and Investment licenses
Unlimited earnings potential for those who have an established network of wealthy clients

    Cons

    No opportunity for growth
    No stable salary
Management takes half of your commissions by mandating "joint work" early on
Management makes you sell to family and friends instead of using any real lead services
Management has no management background. They promote managers that sell and because they sell they are never around.

    Advice to Management

Change the Commission only structure for young reps
Hire real managers instead of promoting financial advisors
Do not allow senior advisors to take commissions from young reps through joint work. This is sketchy when you have so many sharks in your firm.
Hire good people not people who have good networks. I left because everyone in my class was completely under qualified to work at a pizzeria let alone an insurance broker. It scares away the real talent.

Hard work really pays off. Prospect.

    Cons

A lot of cold calls, must go out and prospect.
