I worked at Northwestern Mutual full-time (More than a year)

Pros

-Mutaul Company
-training allowance program(increased commissions for first 3 years)
-Ratings

Cons

-Always highest priced products
-limited products
-products for wealthy/upper middle class

Advice to Management

It's irresponsible to bring in a college kid, not explain what's expected up front, then pressure them to the brink of financial ruin when they never should have been hired.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

As an intern you are given a lot of responsibility. While at times it might feel like you are just being used to produce more leads, you are given the opportunity to do everything on your own and for yourself. Another bonus is a great deal of free time.

    Cons

A lot of anxiety and awkwardness can come from utilizing your personal network, if you see it that way. It all comes down to your frame of mind.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great dedication, great values and morals. Everyone is friendly, helpful and though the sales are individual or joint, the whole company profits as one. The reputation is unbelievable for people that know Northwestern Mutual. Flexible hours and the training program is extremely fast, educative and easy to grasp.

    Cons

The stigma of selling insurance is rough. Everyone needs to be a financial rep before they can continue onto any other position. However it gives you the flexibility to pull in a little extra cash whenever.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, meet the interns, say hi, get them interested and involved and that spurs the best kind of motivation. Motivation for the people around you, for the clients you serve and for the moral and physical compensation.
