I worked at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting Insurance licenses, and learning about the industry.

    Cons

Interns are essentially used to bring in more clients in for the full time insurance reps.

    Advice to Management

Broaden the field of what you try and teach your interns instead of just having to sell insurance.

I worked at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Worked with some of the most professional and dedicated people I've ever met
    - Every advisor in my office was willing to help in any way the could
    - Potential for generous compensation
    - Great resume builder
    - Have used experiences at Northwestern in every job interview since
    - Tremendous job freedom
    - $100 weekly stipend check, maxing out at $1,000 total for semester
    - You make 50% of whatever you sell, however if you do joint work, that is split so you make 25%

    Cons

    - Obtaining referrals can be difficult
    - "Weekly" stipend checks would often be late, I would then receive three or four at once

    Advice to Management

    - Focus training more on fundamentals such as phoning language and approach language
