I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very helpful with tons of information. An opportunity to learn about the insurance business, receive your insurance license, and get a feel for the business world. It pays a very small amount plus commission as an intern, with possibilities to transfer into a full time position. The interview for this internship should be treated as an interview for a potential career.

    Cons

You have got to sell, sell, sell! It IS a sales jobs, with a lot of rules, a lot of information, and a lot of opportunity. As with any sales job, you have to, basically, convince individuals to pay your salary. It is in exchange for an intangible item, but you still have to sell it to make anything.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more demanding and put a slightly larger amount of pressure on interns, not much, but enough to get them started.
