    I worked at Northwestern Mutual full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great sales experience. Very strong training program. Great support staff. Great position if you didn't work hard in college but have a degree. If you buy in, you can make good money, but you need to really ignore all negative aspects of the career in the short-term and focus on long-term benefits.

    Cons

    VERY hard work that really is trying. Definitely heavily affects your relationships with all of your friends and even family in that they always think you're out to "sell" them something, even if you just want to catch-up/chat. A lot of hidden fees associated with being a financial rep (rent, supplies, support staff charges). Most days are very stressful. If you take the job while looking for other jobs/waiting to hear from other jobs, it's not worth your time as you need to fully buy in for your time to be worthwhile. To be successful, you need to accept the fact you'll be selling life insurance the rest of your life.
