I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great Training, and looks good on the old resume. You are your own boss essentially so you dictate your schedule and how much you make.

Cons

100% Commission. If you are not from the area you are employed in or do not have a large number of contacts, be ready for some hard work and tough times.

Advice to Management

Work on possible brokerage positions with good clients that consistently meet new prospects, by offering the referrer a cut of the commission. Capital Financial Group already does this with their Reps.

I worked at Northwestern Mutual full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sky is the limit with income and time flexibility. Be prepared to start your own business. 100% commitment is needed for this career to have a chance at success.

    Cons

    No base salary.
Constant accountability for numbers (phone calls, appointments, sales, etc). This is good and bad. Meetings every morning to go over numbers get old.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose the conservative values this company was founded on.

    Pros

money is good and the future possibilities are encouraging. literally made calls day in and day out but worth it for the experience

    Cons

extreme hours and minimal breaks. cold calling gets a bit tedious and you are not giving someone really to mentor.
