I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (More than a year)

Rewarding in many ways. Worked with a lot of great people. Generous commission cut. Potential is limitless if you work hard.

Cons

It can be highly stressful at times.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Northwestern Mutual full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited earning potential. Very independent and "on your own" attitude. Some people really like it. Great commission rate starting out but decreases over time.

    Cons

If you are not one of the top interns, they don't hire you on and then they'll take all your business. They offer nothing to you except some "training." Anyone can work here as long as you can talk to people. They think their insurance products are the best but Metlife and New York Life are just as good if not better. Overall, this company provides nothing to their advisors and no investment in their employees.

    Advice to Management

Give a base salary, at least to start.

    Pros

Work at your own pace, very friendly staff, everyone is willing to pitch in, unlimited earning potential, constant training

    Cons

Lots of cold calling, commission sales, no leads, sink or swim attitude, very limited advancement

    Advice to Management

Provide some leads or opportunities to get new reps started.
