I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Many aspects of the job are negotiable: salary, hours, bonuses. The company is good and the training available is also good.

Cons

In the area of support, growth potential is limited. If you work as a registered sales rep, growth potential is unlimited.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The earning is theoretically limitless, and for many people who do not have a finance, business, accounting, etc. background, I could see this as being a great introduction to financial services. Also, in terms of insurance sales, the products are the best.

    Cons

In order to achieve a noteworthy income (i.e. >100K/year), however, you need to dedicate what seems to be at least 5 years to "building your practice". It is an insurance sales position with referral-based calling, but still just as awkward and difficult as cold calling.

    Advice to Management

Try not all using the same verbiage for all aspects of the business--everyone who has been in the business at least a year sounds exactly the same and behaves similarly, too.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can be your own boss but it still means you have to work 12-15 hours a day for years to make money. The management was extremely helpful and nice.

    Cons

You only work on commission and you sell life insurance which has nothing to do with finance. Extremely long hours, no money starting out, you have to cold call all day everyday, they always want you to sell to your friends and family

    Advice to Management

    Pay a salary
