I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (More than a year)

Pros

I have worked for 3 different lab at NU and I must say they were all professional, relaxed and willing to help you learn and expand your scientific understanding.

Cons

Collaboration is sometimes slow and political.

Advice to Management

Helpful and mostly available.

    Pros

Strong corporate culture and some of the managers are fantastic - really have your best interests at heart.

    Cons

Pay is low benchmarked against other higher ed. administrators, and opportunities for advancement are not always obvious.

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In my current position, I am able to work remotely from home, have amazing time-off and medical benefits, super friendly staff, great people at the tops of their fields. They also have a wildcard which gets you discounts at many local stores, restaurants, and retail stores (J. Crew, car rental places). It's like having student discounts once again!

    Cons

In my current position, there isn't a clear path to progress upwards. There is also a lot of disorganization, which I feel is pretty consistent in higher education. It's just unfortunate that a Top 10 school is still so unorganized.

    Advice to Management

There is a lot of disorganization, which I look past because I love all of the other aspects of my job. I would also examine pay structure. I have had a few people approach me on LinkedIn to apply for other jobs that offer $20,000 more for the same work I do at NU. It's been very tempting, but I'm staying at NU if things stay as good as they are.
