    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Northwestern University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a great research university. There is an emphasis to develop high-impact leading and innovative research. Colleagues are in general eager to discuss new projects or share their insights into one's research. Work ethic is in general very good.
The university constantly attracts first-class speakers to give lectures in seminars or scientific conferences.
The Science Library is not the most complete I've ever been to but still has many relevant titles and great electronic resources.

    Cons

Massive buildings like the Tech Institute or Francis Searle are not the most welcoming inside. Some of the grad student offices can be dark with few or no windows, with old furniture and crowded which is not an optimal working environment.
The same goes for the central library. The working experience could be better but the overal design does not help.
There is also not a lot of communication between departments around joint projects.

    Advice to Management

Needs to attract more leading scientists to become a leader institution in complex systems and interdisciplinary sciences. The productivity and overall experience of grad students could be improved with better working environments.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great science, outstanding faculty, excellent students, superb reputation

    Cons

Upper management is largely clueless about how faculty directors manage personnel and funds. Certain faculty get "rockstar" status based on their scientific accomplishments and can misuse federal funds without intervention from the university leadership.

    Advice to Management

VPs are usually arising from within the ranks of faculty. Hence, impartial oversight does not take place.
