I worked at Northwestern University as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

great relaxing environment with intellectual people around you. Great work life balance and great location. Very great job security for regular workers. Great place to work and study at the same time.

Cons

You can't expect high salaries from an academic institution where the fund is limited. Internal promotion might take some time for regular employees since there are many workers who have been working for the school for a long time.

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Schedule (M-F 8:30-5), decent benefits

    Cons

Have to wait 1 year after starting a job to transfer, salaries are not competitive with what one would get in corporate world unless you work at Medical School. When I recently applied for a job within my department that would have been considered a promotion, I was told after the fact there was a limit on how much my salary could increase. My salary is less than the midpoint for the position, so it seems like I would have been better off had I not already worked within the department.

I worked at Northwestern University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I did my work study here as a library aide for several years. The people were a pleasure to work with. They gave me real work and responsibilities and i was able to develop a relationship with our library clients. They expect you to work hard, but you can grow here.

    Cons

Not much to complain about. So many jobs. Find one that is right for you.
