Pros

Good benefits package, diversity in where you can work, decent pay for the area you work and overall, management treats employess well with Employee Appreciation, Christmas parties, Holidays off, overtime pay, etc.

Cons

You don't get much notification when it comes to overtime and the need to work it. Which I think is probably at most companies.

Advice to Management

The need for better work place conditions, ie cleanliness, 5S and such, is in need of improvement at my facility.

I worked at Nortrak full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best reason to work at Nortrak is the money

    Cons

You must pick vacation days months in advance , with no more than 10% of a department being off at any given time and if you use vacation time up against a holiday you must use a week at a time, no adding a day or two to a holiday. Also environmental hazard management is very poor, Manganese exposure is not managed well, and that can also be said of welding smoke and smoke from other hot operations. Management style in Cheyenne plant is threat based with management putting write ups and or suspensions on people to keep them desperate and running scared. Many people I used to work with reported daily headaches going away after not working there anymore and one employee went off of his high blood pressure meds after leaving. If you like trying to make parts from incorrect blueprints and constantly fighting for usable tools and supplies as well as working lots of overtime without the parts to complete assemblies because someone up the chain of command didn't admit in a meeting that they didn't get parts to the plant on time and then being the target of management wrath for not being productive Nortrak is for you.

    Advice to Management

Get away from threatening everyone's job daily and try honest communication, I think you will find that people concentrate better when they are less stressed. Also I think you will find much more honesty from your people when they are not in constant fear for their jobs. Nortrak is a large multi-national company based in Europe and the culture and management away from the Cheyenne WY plant is different.
