Doesn't Recommend
Negative Outlook

I have been working at Nottingham Trent University as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Reasonable hourly rates, interesting and worthwhile work, intelligent and well-motivated colleagues.

Cons

Management decisions lack transparency and fairness particularly related to allocation of work. No security for hourly paid staff and little willingness to follow the spirit of protective legislation. Definite pressure to inflate grades - giving fail grades, however well deserved, means that hours will be reduced or withdrawn.

Advice to Management

Try to ensure that allocation of work is based upon transparent criteria.

I have been working at Nottingham Trent University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent facilities for students. Good supportive working relationships with other colleagues. Safe environment. Good transport links. Wide range of training opportunities available.

    Cons

Workplace parking levy - same for everyone regardless of salary/size of car. Administration staff work in cramped conditions - poorly ventilated and very little natural light.

    Advice to Management

Consider the conditions of those who work 5 days a week, 52 weeks of the year

    Pros

You are well paid on time no delays:)
You get to work in a very comfortable environment
You get to engage with staffs who are well educated and skilled in their work
Sure to have a good career advice from the school's employability team regarding your work, to me is brilliant!!

    Cons

Task could be very repetitive..but could be better if proper review is made from time to time and a little tweak is done to make task given at work more exciting.

    Advice to Management

I'm very glad the kind of support you offer to your staff. I would however, like to suggest the management can look more into the future aspirations of their staff members because by so doing they would know more on their evolving interest their various roles and find ways to improve staff satisfaction in their various job roles.

Also I'll like to suggest that it would be good to have effective NTU staff community forums that seeks to encourage and build staff morals towards and commitment to bettering their performance and productivity.
