I worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Culture that promotes some aspects of technology, flexible hours, great work environment

Cons

Very short sighted when it comes to using technology. Only interested in current technology and not interested in other technologies that may be relevant. Management (or those given the illusion and responsibility of management) are not well organized and fail in communication. After meeting my hiring manager on the first day, I never heard from him again. The next senior person in the group was in charge and his management and communication skills were very weak.

Advice to Management

Better organization and communication. Stop making several versions of the same application for different groups, it is a tremendous amount of waste, in time and money.

I have been working at Novartis Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexi schedule with plans of building a day care center on the East Hanover campus for working mothers. It's a place young recruits can build a life time career. Excellent job rotation programs around the world.

    Cons

Try as much as you can to stay in the company and extablish a strong network across job functions because as soon as you get out by way of lay-offs, it's difficult getting back in.

    Advice to Management

Should emphasize more on the job rotations to broaden employees skills

I worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

People were nice to work with.

    Cons

Work load. No chance for a consideration to become a permanent employee as majority of people working at the work site was contract employees.

    Advice to Management

Provide permanent employment opportunity to retain quality talents.
