Positive Outlook

I worked at Novotus as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Great management with a strong vision.

Cons

Recruiting is cyclical which can cause a layoff. But if you are committed to being a recruiter, this is a great place to start.

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Novotus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture here is great, great people and collaboration. It's not viciously competitive as it can be with some recruiting companies. Everyone is willing to help you. They are also ahead of the curve on technologies, applicant tracking systems, etc. with the full opportunity to immerse yourself into these systems. The hiring managers and companies really buy in to what we do, that partnership really adds excitement to the recruiting functions.

    Cons

Management - Extreme amount of micromanagement , but the kind where managers are condescending, put themselves above others, and don't listen to the employees. Invasion of personal and professional lives is also a practice of the management team.

Salary - This is way below market value across the board with recruiters, and bonuses are subjective (even with objective metrics in place).

Career paths - They say work hard to get promoted, but really there are not positions in which they can promote you. The past several hires for which there was the potential to get promoted were filled by external persons. Not saying anything bad about these hires, but it really hurts internal moral, especially for those who are working hard to be promoted.

    Advice to Management

Management audit, rework metrics to apply fairly to every employee in the company. Be more transparent in communication. Take risks on tenured and hard working people in management positions before bringing in external people.

    Pros

The recruiters are very talented. Clients for the most part are fun to work with. Great support to do your job. Networking events are encouraged. Excellent collaboration amongst teams. Large workloads so you never get bored.

    Cons

The salaries at this company seem to be below market. The environment is highly micromanaged (daily reporting on activity). Metrics are unrealistic and it's difficult to earn your full bonus. Not a lot of reasons to want to excel. Leadership doesn't seem trustworthy. Contractors don't seem to be treated as well as perm employees.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are actually worth or expect high turnover.
