I have been working at Nutrisystem full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Nice building and location. Employees are good people.

Cons

Kids running the departments and know very little about business. Lack of respect for call center employees. High turn over rate. Promise paid holidays but actually mandate you to work them (never close even during state of emergencies). No or little company bonuses. Career growth never happens unless you "kiss butt". Lay offs happen every year. Impossible to get day shift. HR is for the company and not the employees! Too much gossip and breaking code of conduct from management. The list goes on....

Advice to Management

Fire them all and hire experienced managers who can be team p,ayers. Huge separation in employees and managers and everyone should be working together. Actually apperciate the workers it will go along way for company growth!!!

I have been working at Nutrisystem full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gym on site that never gets used because you want to get out of that building as soon as possible. Some nice coworkers

    Cons

Micro managed, horrible corporate culture. You could ask 3 manager the same question and get 3 different answers. Company stock is plummeting and they will do anything to not have to pay you.

    Advice to Management

Fix the culture by firing your supervisors through VP's and start over. They are the most negative people ever and need to get out of their little social club and realize to run a profitable business you need the front line people to care about the company.

    Pros

    Very fair hourly wage.
Managed health care plan well enough.
Nice (annoyingly over-secured) new facility w/gym & locker rooms.
There WAS a very good staff in place before management was exposed as incompetent, then they quit or were laid off (while less tenured, less knowledgeable counselors were kept on).

    Cons

Being embarrassed because I had more managerial experience then most (or all) of the Counseling Department supervisors combined.
CONSTANT employee turnover (at least 75% over three years).
Know-nothing department management became robotic and exceedingly micromanaging (virtually every SECOND of your time is accounted for).
Insecure management created an us-vs-them environment.
Department management's inability to develop & motivate the staff.
Employees are partially in the dark about new promotions and website changes because they're consistently rolled-out poorly.
What company has a Christmas Party that ONE-THIRD of the staff can't go to?

    Advice to Management

Gut the call center supervisory staff, most of whom were promoted because of their product knowledge (now mostly outdated), not because they had experience in managing people, leading or developing talent. Streamline the communication, hold the call center management accountable. Train and develop the staff better. I would've done this for you, but the Counseling Department thoroughly botched offering me even just a minor promotion.
