~Interesting presentations and lectures that employees are encouraged to attend
~Great benefits, lots of vacation/sick time,
~Implements "carrot not stick" approach to health- offering discounted insurance rate and cash to participate in healthy behavior like company paid Weight Watchers or logging workouts
~Approachable upper management
~Social events held for employees promotes strong community
~Progressive company- equal rights for same sex marriages/partnerships

Cons

~Academic research does not pay well (unless you are running the lab- sometimes)
~Necessary use of animal models for research

Advice to Management

Great job- keep listening to your employees and encouraging the positive atmosphere. Could use a bit more variety of on campus food options/ competition.

I have been working at OHSU full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cutting edge research and medical care. Also houses schools of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and ophthalmology. For a large organization it's pretty well-run. Quick hiring process. They have an excellent reputation throughout the state. The benefits, for now, are generous. Good workforce development commitment.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive. Research doesn't compensate for prior years of professional experience.
Battles with union contracts at the same time that the top six executives received over $600,000 dollars in annual bonuses, and the organization was trumpeting their most profitable year ever.

    Advice to Management

Clearer communication as to why cuts in benefits to employees happen concurrently with large Allow opportunities for advancement in a more systematic way.

    Pros

great benifits, vacation, sick days. depending on your unit, you can be well supported at work.

    Cons

you must ride trimet to get to work. only permit parking. $50 monthly parking permit comes after about 5 years on a list. poor salary compensation.

    Advice to Management
