I have been working at Oceaneering International as a contractor

Pros

Always new challenges to deal with based on the fast changing pace of the business and aggressive acquisition policy

Cons

Sometimes the expectations of senior management to hit deadline is unrealistic leading to a poorly executed product implementation which then needs a lot of production support.

Advice to Management

Management need to consider the needs of IT when making decisions and IT needs to not agree to all management directives

I worked at Oceaneering International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In oceaneering the quality of upper management (CEO level )professionals are good .They where very futuristic so still their product have monopoly in the market that is the one of the reason this company still existing .How ever the middle management is stupid people they don't know the value of oceaneering and the technology.Middle level managers are not utilizing the resource for the growth of the company instead they where using them for their individual growth and individual purpose.I know lot of good techi guys are resigned because of this reason

    Cons

I have lot eg: in my time .No body will belive some of the women employees (freshers) are helping their manger to clean their houses and washing their dress .....So the unprofessional manager happy with their work and giving promotion so good skilled employees are frestrated because of these reason

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on middle level managers.Impliment a good tracking system which will evaluate what the employee is doing.Evaluate this system on quarterly basis in an year in CEO level .IF any dicrepancy and ambiguity find out the tracking system question the employee and manager on the basis of this result company could do a realignement it will be nice and all the iddiots middle manager can rebalance as per this

I worked at Oceaneering International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They were the only "ROV gig in town", so you had no choice. Pay is not bad $700 a day for Supervisor and Medical, Retirement plan and bonuses.

    Cons

Personnel are leaving - approximately 30 this year alone- why, not for money because many have moved to other for the same and in many cases less money.

    Advice to Management

Senior management of Oceaneering International, take a closer look at Canada - There are reasons why people are leaving, it is not the pay or conditions. Ask to speak to some of the employees who have already left over the past couple of years, i am sure they will tell you now they are free - pick the names yourself!
