I have been working at Office Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Pretty good benefits and employee programs like tuition remburstment, new born family assistance, health incentives, and credit building programs just to name a few. Strong company to work for. Pretty good communication through out the company, strong focus on team building. Great for multi taskers, you wont get bored.

Cons

Pay is Mediocre. Advancement does happen but OD likes to hire outside the company for its managers often, New manger hires get less scrutiny than those who are promoted with in the company that know and live the company values.

Advice to Management

Understand that not everyone is the star employee, determine their strengths and if thier trainable, give your employees a development path to sucsess. As far as managing your self, this company goes through cyclical values between tasks and customer service often, however customers have to come first, just make sure you have a plan to get your stuff done. good luck.

I have been working at Office Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No real interview process. If you have a pulse, you're qualified.

    Cons

Way too micromanaged with a ridiculous customer mapping program and a heavy emphasis on selling unnecessary and overpriced warranty plans, known as performance protection plans.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the ISCE program completely. Utterly absurd. Hire the associates on a full-time basis rather than hire 35 part-time workers in an attempt to save money. Also, create fixed shifts, instead of changing everyone's shift hours every week.

I have been working at Office Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are treated equal, and correct
There are incentives such as selling product protection plans
    Relaxed environment
    Stress free
    Overall a good job experience

    Cons

Mapping every customer is very annoying
Many associates get away with murder, very irking to quality associates
Recovery should not have to be done every Waking moment
    Raise only once a year
    Starting pay very low
    Takes forever to get promotions.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating associates the way you have been, be more stringent with associates who slack off, innovate and promote from within, overall though this company is on the up and up,
