I have been working at Office Depot part-time

    Pros

flexibility when it comes to scheduling and work shifts. few disciplinary repercussions across the board (pro and con).

    Cons

high pressure demands to perform with ever increasing productivity and simultaneous accuracy. associates expected to compensate for unfinished job loads created by other associates or managers, without accompanying stress on a teamwork mentality. No staff meetings or inter-workplace communication. change in schedule/ decrease in hours without notice (demands concerning schedule and workload highly dependent on seasonal/budget changes). corporate dictates policies and goals throughout chain without consideration to employees in any way. stocking systems not efficient compared to other stores. high stress on addressing customers with correct phrasing throughout entire interaction/selling process and most training focuses on pressure sales and upselling, though corporate insists pressure selling doesn't happen. huge load of training vids assigned without time made to complete them.

    Advice to Management

half of the managers don't even like being managers. not something to look up to.

I worked at Office Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

An ability to work with associates in order to create a reasonable balance between work, home, and community in most situations a pleasant environment. Very customer oriented.

    Cons

Market shares eroded by increases in online sales though internet sources put pressures on store sales . Still need to maintain proper staffing at all times.

    Advice to Management

Local marketing still has a place in our enviroment the Office Depot should be a part of community not just another big box from somewhere else.
