No opinion of CEO

I worked at OfficeMax full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Fun atmosphere
Good insurance
Every day is different

Cons

Horrible pay
Managers never close

Advice to Management

Pay people by how much responsibility you give them - if they are opening/closing a $15k/day store, $10.25 isn't an appropriate wage

I have been working at OfficeMax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work at a nice location with friendly associates

    Cons

Too much stuff to do and too much "car salesman" mentality when it comes to peeling back the layers of each customer to sell them a service or warranty plans. Many customers don't want to be hassled or asked a ton of questions about themselves. They find it rude and invasive. There is a high emphasis on all the recent "computer/online" services and warranties.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate at least 40% of the unprofitable stuff that we sell and buy better merchandise to resell. Customers don't come to OfficeMax to buy junky computers, printers and other crappy supplies. Also stop buying the stuff that EVERYONE knows will go clearance. Voodoo dolls? Crappy $1 merch?
