I have been working at OfficeMax part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Coworkers are pleasant and fun to work with;
Hours are pretty decent;
Never off the chain busy unless it is Back to School or Black Friday.

Cons

Pay is kinda low, but not unreasonable;
Tough time getting hired from within for jobs;
Company is merging with Office Depot and stores will eventually have to close.

Advice to Management

Make your employees feel secure. Give us some more information about things that are going on, not only in the company as a whole, but even down to little districts.

    I have been working at OfficeMax part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    It's a small store, so managers and employees socialize together and have somewhat of an informal relationship. Also, employees almost never have to work on holidays because the store will either be closed or close early.

    Cons

    Business can be very slow, and sometimes it seems like you have to count down the time until your shift ends. Additionally, impress associates seem to be constantly stressed, overwhelmed and under-paid.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of or improve Office Max brand ink, half the customers who purchase it end up returning it because it doesn't work. It only weakens customer loyalty. Also, it would be cool if the store closed early on superbowl sunday. (Nobody wants to buy ink or paper during the superbowl game anyways.)

  2. "The biggest problem with office max is the costumers."

    I worked at OfficeMax part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay was fine as a part time employee. All of the other employees were fun to work with. Plenty to do in the store to keep you busy without being monotonous.

    Cons

    Wanted us to push warranty plans that most customers are not interested in. And lots of time was spent refacing shelves after customer s randomly put things back out of place.

    Advice to Management

    My store has had new management since I have left and been reorganized. Looks better and starting at zero has helped the shelves be properly faced.
