I worked at OfficeMax full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for the Old Officemax and then for Boise Cascade Officemax and was able to work my way up to ASM. It was a great place and I met a lot of Great Managers and Staff and it's a great first job or part time job. I loved it. I was a tech Specialist in the end.

    Cons

The Store Managers and ASM's are not consistent with Discipline nor with Corrective actions. Some Store Mgmt use the corrective actions to get rid of great employee's like myself by lying about the facts. HR doesn't investigate nor take any action and employee complaints are not taken serious. Especially, in District 19. Any complaint is met with Hostile work environment, harassment, verbal and mental abuse and usually either in resulting in the associate quiting or getting fired for trumped up charges. They save the Bad store mrgs and get rid of the good ones. Also, HR holds all your past mistakes against you so there is no hope for redemption or forgiveness.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employee's and stop trying to save the Bad apples by moving them from store to store. Make random and unannouced stops at the stores to keep the mgr's on their toes and make it harder for employee's to be fired for past mistakes.

    Cons
