I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Food is paid for when you work late. Nice cafe with a great staff. Awesome building with lots of meeting rooms. Great facilities like a gym and a nurse. Technology is up-to-date and well managed.

    Cons

No evaluations, no raises, no bonuses.

Some creative managers don't connect with juniors and juniors are offered little/no mentorship. Juniors are shuffled from CD to CD. Sometimes junior teams are asked for ideas and then rotated off the project. They often aren't given the opportunity to continue to develop their ideas and aren't given credit for their work.

A lot of creatives have recently left the agency and replacements haven't been hired; as a result, creatives are overworked.

    Advice to Management

End your hiring and raise freezes--- you can find the funds in excessive executive spending. It is time to cut back on the thousands of dollars spent on town cars and fancy dinners.

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can't speak for the other assistants here but my bosses are so down to earth, smart and approachable that it makes my job really enjoyable...Admin duties are pretty standard- heavy calendaring and lots of travel. They kind of throw you into things when you start working here so quick learners need only apply. No dress code and great community here... LOVE it here.

    Cons

The building is a little far from the train, but whatever- you get your exercise and on the days when you're too tired to walk you can take the shuttle bus.

If you're waiting for a name plate for your desk- don't hold your breath!! It takes YEARS...literally.

    Advice to Management

Need to update resources for assistants- contact sheets and phone lists. Need to improve conference room booking policy, and need an admin training day for the first few days someone starts.
